I have always been drawn to the arts. I have always loved taking pictures and collecting mementos. I loved sticker collecting as a young girl as well as making my own accessories for my toys. (I constructed a My Little Pony city out of cardboard boxes and balsa wood. My dad would take me to the craft store every two weeks for supplies for our latest pony project.) I studied Fine Art in college (but I never finished my degree) I turned towards acrylics and canvas. I learned then that my strong suit was design and my weakness was working too small.
Did I mention I love how clean it is? After my son was born, I stopped painting on canvases. The idea that he'd either get into the mess and swallow the (then) toxic paints (back when paints had actual toxins in them) or smear it all over the place. I packed up my supplies and turned towards writing instead.
In 2006, I started making blinkies for friends on Two Week Wait, Cafe Mom and Fertility Friend. This is when I discovered digital scrapbooking, but since I was busy with custom blinkies, I never had time to explore. I graduated to making tags and banners by request. Eventually I stopped spending so much time online (aka, I started homeschooling my son) and went back to writing.
I'm not sure how I fell into scrapping: I think it came out of not feeling like writing and missing digital art so much. Somewhere along the line I got another computer and another copy of Paint Shop Pro (yes, I am a loyal PSP user). Here I am creating for myself and my family. Being a geek, I want to know EVERYTHING I can about scrapbooking and I'm drive to apply my knowledge.
I've been around the digi block a few times in different vehicles. I've got an artist's eyes and a lot to learn still. Since I have another blog devoted to family while living with autism and chiari, Plus, a girl needs a space to NOT talk about her kid and husband. Really, love 'em, but I need to geek out on all things digi!
Here we are... The Digi Scrap Geek (that's me!). Enjoy the ride!
Important Disclosure
I am on several Creative Teams. From time to time I post about the offerings of the designers/stores/sites and such. Being part of these organizations, I do receive products for free and make a commission on sales for Get It Scrapped linked from my blog. I love the designers/sites that I create for, believe in their collective awesomeness and think they have an unparalleled utility for the scrapbooking community.
